How to Connect Your Android Phone to LaiCai

LaiCai supports two connection methods: USB and Wi-Fi. We recommend connecting via USB first, then switching to Wi-Fi for wireless operation.

USB
Connect with a data cable. Stable, low latency, ideal for initial setup.

Wi-Fi
After a successful USB connection, you can unplug the cable and go wireless.

Step 1: Enable Developer Mode

Developer mode is hidden by default and needs to be unlocked manually.

General steps (works for most Android phones):

  1. Open phone Settings
  2. Find "About phone" or "About device"
  3. Tap "Build number" 7 times repeatedly
  4. The system will show "You are now a developer!"

Brand-specific paths:

  • Xiaomi / Redmi: Settings → About phone → All specs → MIUI version (tap 7 times)
  • Huawei / Honor: Settings → About phone → Build number (tap 7 times)
  • OPPO / OnePlus: Settings → About phone → Version info → Build number (tap 7 times)
  • vivo: Settings → About phone → Software version (tap 7 times)
  • Samsung: Settings → About phone → Software information → Build number (tap 7 times)
02

Step 2: Enable USB Debugging

  1. Go back to the main Settings screen
  2. Find "Developer options" (usually under "System" or "Additional settings")
  3. Make sure "Developer options" is turned on (toggle at top)
  4. Find "USB debugging" and turn it on
  5. Tap "OK" on the confirmation dialog
03

Step 3: Connect via USB

  1. Connect your phone to your computer using a data cable
  2. Your phone will show a dialog: "Allow USB debugging?"
  3. Check "Always allow from this computer", then tap "Allow"
  4. Open LaiCai, click the Scan Devices button to scan for devices
  5. Your phone will appear in the list — check it and click Add to Group
💡 If no dialog appears or your phone is not found: unplug and reconnect the cable, or try a different cable (must support data transfer, not charge-only).
04

Step 4 (Optional): Switch to Wi-Fi

After a successful USB connection, you can switch to wireless:

  1. In the LaiCai device list on the left, right-click the connected device
  2. Select Enable WiFi Connection from the context menu
  3. Wait 1–2 seconds — the connection type changes from USB to Wi-Fi
  4. You can now safely unplug the cable
💡 Your phone and computer must be on the same local network (Wi-Fi), otherwise the switch will fail.

To switch back to USB, right-click the device again and select Disconnect WiFi.

Using LaiCai App

Once your phone has Developer Mode and USB debugging enabled, follow these steps in the LaiCai app.

05

Step 5: Scan for Devices

  1. Open LaiCai on your computer
  2. Click the Scan Devices button in the top toolbar (or on the welcome page if no device is added yet)
  3. A "Scan Devices" dialog will pop up and start scanning automatically
  4. Wait a moment — all detected USB and Wi-Fi devices will appear in the list
💡 If your device is not listed, click the Refresh button at the top of the dialog. Make sure you tapped Allow on the USB debugging prompt on your phone.
06

Step 6: Select Devices

  1. Each row shows the device Type, Nickname, Serial Number and Product
  2. Tick the checkbox in front of the device(s) you want to add
  3. Or click Select All at the top to select every device at once
07

Step 7: Add to Group

  1. At the bottom of the dialog, choose a target group from the dropdown (a default group is created automatically the first time)
  2. Click the Add to Group button
  3. The dialog closes and your devices appear in the main view
08

Step 8: Start Screen Mirroring

  1. Each newly added device shows a placeholder labeled "Start Screen Mirroring"
  2. Click anywhere on the placeholder to begin mirroring
  3. The phone screen appears instantly, and you can control it with your mouse, keyboard or gamepad
💡 To stop mirroring, click the ■ button next to the device in the list on the left. To start it again, click the ▶ button.
