How to Connect Your Android Phone to LaiCai
LaiCai supports two connection methods: USB and Wi-Fi. We recommend connecting via USB first, then switching to Wi-Fi for wireless operation.
USB
Connect with a data cable. Stable, low latency, ideal for initial setup.
Wi-Fi
After a successful USB connection, you can unplug the cable and go wireless.
01
Step 1: Enable Developer Mode
Developer mode is hidden by default and needs to be unlocked manually.
General steps (works for most Android phones):
- Open phone Settings
- Find "About phone" or "About device"
- Tap "Build number" 7 times repeatedly
- The system will show "You are now a developer!"
Brand-specific paths:
- Xiaomi / Redmi: Settings → About phone → All specs → MIUI version (tap 7 times)
- Huawei / Honor: Settings → About phone → Build number (tap 7 times)
- OPPO / OnePlus: Settings → About phone → Version info → Build number (tap 7 times)
- vivo: Settings → About phone → Software version (tap 7 times)
- Samsung: Settings → About phone → Software information → Build number (tap 7 times)
02
Step 2: Enable USB Debugging
- Go back to the main Settings screen
- Find "Developer options" (usually under "System" or "Additional settings")
- Make sure "Developer options" is turned on (toggle at top)
- Find "USB debugging" and turn it on
- Tap "OK" on the confirmation dialog
03
Step 3: Connect via USB
- Connect your phone to your computer using a data cable
- Your phone will show a dialog: "Allow USB debugging?"
- Check "Always allow from this computer", then tap "Allow"
- Open LaiCai, click the Scan Devices button to scan for devices
- Your phone will appear in the list — check it and click Add to Group
💡 If no dialog appears or your phone is not found: unplug and reconnect the cable, or try a different cable (must support data transfer, not charge-only).
04
Step 4 (Optional): Switch to Wi-Fi
After a successful USB connection, you can switch to wireless:
- In the LaiCai device list on the left, right-click the connected device
- Select Enable WiFi Connection from the context menu
- Wait 1–2 seconds — the connection type changes from USB to Wi-Fi
- You can now safely unplug the cable
💡 Your phone and computer must be on the same local network (Wi-Fi), otherwise the switch will fail.
To switch back to USB, right-click the device again and select Disconnect WiFi.
Using LaiCai App
Once your phone has Developer Mode and USB debugging enabled, follow these steps in the LaiCai app.
05
Step 5: Scan for Devices
- Open LaiCai on your computer
- Click the Scan Devices button in the top toolbar (or on the welcome page if no device is added yet)
- A "Scan Devices" dialog will pop up and start scanning automatically
- Wait a moment — all detected USB and Wi-Fi devices will appear in the list
💡 If your device is not listed, click the Refresh button at the top of the dialog. Make sure you tapped Allow on the USB debugging prompt on your phone.
06
Step 6: Select Devices
- Each row shows the device Type, Nickname, Serial Number and Product
- Tick the checkbox in front of the device(s) you want to add
- Or click Select All at the top to select every device at once
07
Step 7: Add to Group
- At the bottom of the dialog, choose a target group from the dropdown (a default group is created automatically the first time)
- Click the Add to Group button
- The dialog closes and your devices appear in the main view
08
Step 8: Start Screen Mirroring
- Each newly added device shows a placeholder labeled "Start Screen Mirroring"
- Click anywhere on the placeholder to begin mirroring
- The phone screen appears instantly, and you can control it with your mouse, keyboard or gamepad
💡 To stop mirroring, click the ■ button next to the device in the list on the left. To start it again, click the ▶ button.
