How to Control Android Phones from a Computer with LaiCai

BeePOS LLC  |   |  5 min read

LaiCai Screen Mirroring lets you view and control Android phones from a Windows or macOS computer. For a first session, use one phone and a USB data cable: authorize the computer, scan for the phone, add it to a device group, and start mirroring. Then test a click and a short typed sentence in a notes app.

This guide follows the current LaiCai connection workflow, explains the permissions involved, and shows what to check when the phone is missing or input does not work. The later sections compare command-line and remote-support alternatives so you can distinguish their setup requirements. Begin with one working phone before adding wireless access, game mapping, or more devices.

Choose the workflow before installing software

A nearby phone and a phone in another household require different setups. Local USB or Wi-Fi control is suitable for typing, demonstrations, screenshots, and testing your own apps. Helping another person over the internet needs a remote-support service and their participation. A television casting button may show the phone without providing computer mouse control.

The control Android phone from PC page describes the main desktop workflow. For display-only requirements, compare the Android screen mirroring options before granting unnecessary permissions.

Prepare the phone and computer

Use a USB cable that supports data transfer. A phone charging successfully does not prove the cable can carry data. Keep the phone unlocked during the initial connection so you can read and approve its prompts. On a managed work device, check whether your organization permits debugging or remote access.

For ADB-based tools such as scrcpy, enable Developer options and USB debugging. Android's official developer-options guide describes the process; manufacturers may put the controls in different menus. On many phones, tapping Build number seven times makes Developer options available. Follow your device's own instructions if the labels differ.

Windows may require the manufacturer's USB driver. Do not install a random driver package simply because a phone is missing from a list. macOS normally does not need the same manufacturer ADB driver. Install the desktop program from its official source and follow its operating-system instructions.

Connect your first phone in LaiCai Screen Mirroring

Install the Windows or macOS edition from the official website. The steps below follow the LaiCai Android connection guide. Menu wording can vary with the selected interface language.

  1. Enable Developer options and USB debugging on the phone. Connect the data cable and keep the phone unlocked.
  2. Read the USB debugging prompt on the phone and authorize your own trusted computer. A cable connection alone does not grant this permission.
  3. In the desktop toolbar, choose Scan Devices. Locate the intended phone and select its checkbox.
  4. Choose Add to Group, then select the device group where you want the phone to appear. A group is a workspace for organizing devices; adding the phone does not mean every group action is already enabled.
  5. In the group, click the phone’s Start Screen Mirroring placeholder. Confirm that the displayed screen belongs to the intended phone.
  6. Open a notes app, click a harmless control, type a short sentence, and scroll. Check the result on the physical phone before adding another device.

If the phone is absent from the scan, return to the cable, authorization, and driver checks below. If the screen opens but input fails, check the phone’s additional input-security permission where its manufacturer requires one. Recording, key mapping, and group input should each be tested separately after this basic session works.

Optional comparison: the scrcpy command-line workflow

scrcpy offers free local screen control on Windows, macOS, and Linux. Use the download and installation instructions linked from its official repository. A packaged release may include the supporting tools, so installing the full Android Studio development environment is not a general requirement.

  1. Install or extract the official package appropriate for your computer.
  2. Enable USB debugging on your own Android phone.
  3. Connect it with the data cable and unlock the screen.
  4. Read the phone's debugging authorization prompt and approve the computer you trust.
  5. Start scrcpy following the package instructions. If it closes with an error, run it from a terminal so the message stays visible.
  6. Open a notes app and verify a click, a short typed sentence, and a scroll.

If ADB is available in the package or your terminal, this command lists the connected targets:

adb devices

A target marked unauthorized still needs the phone owner's approval. An empty list suggests checking the cable, port, debugging setting, and driver. An offline target needs connection troubleshooting. Do not treat every one of these states as the same error.

When more than one target is present, select the intended device using scrcpy's documented device-selection option. Verify the serial locally rather than copying an example serial into a command. Close a session on the wrong device before continuing.

Try a simpler video configuration if the picture lags

Start by lowering capture size while keeping the same app and connection. For example, scrcpy documents this size limit:

scrcpy -m1024

This is a suggested comparison, not a guaranteed optimal setting. Readable text may require a different size, while a busy game may need a lower load. Use the official video settings for supported options. Change one setting at a time so you can see what improved.

Move to wireless only after the basic session works

In LaiCai, first keep the authorized USB session connected and put the phone and computer on the same local network. Right-click the phone in the left device list and choose Enable WiFi Connection. Wait until the connection type changes to Wi-Fi before unplugging USB. To end the wireless connection, use Disconnect WiFi in the device menu. These steps are described in the official connection guide.

Local wireless ADB requires a supported, reachable connection and authorization. Android versions with Wireless debugging can pair a computer using the device's pairing workflow. Older TCP/IP arrangements typically start with an authorized USB connection. Follow the Android ADB instructions for the method your device supports.

Use a trusted local network. Guest-network isolation or changing addresses can explain why a device is not reachable even though both devices have internet access. Being online is not the same as being able to communicate with each other locally.

After switching, repeat the same notes-app test. If USB is responsive and wireless is not, compare your distance from the access point and competing traffic. Return to USB for an important demonstration if the wireless session remains unreliable. Disable or disconnect wireless debugging when it is no longer needed.

Use attended remote support for someone else's phone

TeamViewer QuickSupport and similar services suit a session where the other person can install the phone app and approve access. Confirm the device's supported control mode before arranging the session. Some phones need an add-on, and screen sharing does not always mean touch input is available.

Follow the vendor's Android setup, let the owner read each permission prompt, and end access when the task is complete. For paid work, check the commercial license. This is a different workflow from exposing a local debugging connection to the internet.

Understand the current Samsung DeX distinction

DeX on a compatible external display and the older DeX for PC application are different arrangements. Samsung states that DeX for PC is no longer supported on One UI 7 or later. Do not follow an old PC tutorial expecting the same result after an upgrade.

If you want a desktop interface on an external monitor, check your specific phone's DeX and display-output support. If you want the phone inside an existing computer desktop, choose an appropriate supported mirroring or phone-integration workflow.

Fix the most common first-session problems

The phone is charging but does not appear

Try a known data cable and a direct computer port. Confirm USB debugging and read the phone's authorization prompt. On Windows, check the manufacturer's driver instructions. Reconnect after changing one item, rather than reinstalling several applications at once.

I can see the screen but cannot click

Check the tool's input mode and the phone's required permission or add-on. Some manufacturers expose an additional debugging security setting, while remote-support tools may rely on a control plug-in. Use the instructions for the exact tool and phone. Do not assume root access is the next step.

A sensitive app shows a blank screen

Some applications restrict capture or remote input. Complete that action directly on the phone. A working connection elsewhere does not mean a protected app must support mirroring, and this guide does not suggest bypassing its protection.

Typing works, but game controls do not

Typing into a text field and mapping keys to touch controls are separate tasks. Review the play Android games on PC workflow, confirm the game's control layout, and test in a practice area before relying on it.

Build up from one successful task

Once viewing, clicking, and typing work, add only the feature you need next: recording, a wireless connection, game mapping, or another device. When working with several phones, use the control multiple Android phones guide and verify each phone separately first.

Keep a record of the tool, connection method, and settings that passed your test. That gives you a useful starting point after an update and makes future troubleshooting much clearer than changing every option at once.
